SALT LAKE CITY PUBLIC LIBRARY

This project born from a competition and Moshe Safdie's winning design was a five-storey triangular building housing the stacks, a rectangular "bar" building for administration, and a glass atrium, all flow into a public plaza. The Main Library opened in February 2003.

A park at the eastside is a connection point for pedestrian routes across the city. The inside corridors have the right design and size for an easy circulation inside the building without bothering other users or come across something.

Talking about vertical circulation in this place we can see that there are stairs that connect the first floor to the next one and so on, steps doesn't look to be too high so it makes confortable to go up and down using the stairs. There is also and elevator for those who want to go up to more than one floor or for handicaps who won't be able to use the stairs.

This building has an excelent circulation system because I think Safdie (building designer) thought about library problems and give them a solution, for example the idea of set up areas with noiser activities at the lower levels and the reference and study areas on the upper levels.
